According to General Hospital spoilers, John J. York (Mac Scorpio) will be missing for a few months. When it was announced a few days ago that he would be taking a “brief” break from the show on X, fans were a little let down.

He said he’d give fans an update shortly on the situation, and on Wednesday night, he released a video on X outlining his health situation and appealing for donors for a blood stem cell transplant.

John J. York Has Been Dealing With Health Issues Since December 2022

In the video posted on X, York explains that his break from GH was caused by his diagnosis of multiple smoldering myeloma (MSM) and the blood and bone marrow illnesses myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).

He says that during the past few months, he’s undergone three bone marrow biopsies, numerous rounds of chemotherapy, and is almost ready for a blood stem cell transplant.

He claims that while searching through the BeTheMatch.org registration for possible donors, he has been working with many “wonderful” people.

John J. York’s Request For Fans

After he talked about his condition, he placed a request for fans and followers to think about joining Be The Match, not just to be a potential match for him, but for the “thousands upon thousands” of people currently in need on the registry.

He directs fans to head to www.BeTheMatch.org/MatchForMac, for more information on how they can either join the registry or make a financial contribution.

John ends the video by thanking the fans for their support over the years and makes it clear that this isn’t “goodbye”, it is just “so long”.

Within three to four months, he claims, he should return to Port Charles. He again thanks the supporters for their love, support, and prayers, paraphrasing Arnold Schwarzenegger’s line from the Terminator movie, “I’ll be back.” He promises to update supporters as soon as he can as he ends the video.

We all wish John a swift recovery so that he can soon return to the well-known ABC soap show. Visit this website frequently for the most recent General Hospital news and spoilers if you want more updates.
