General Hospital Spoilers: Betty Rutherford Is More Than Sonny’s Enemy; She’s His Daughter

Spoilers for General Hospital indicate Betty Rutherford (Ella Lentini) isn’t just concerned with fulfilling her boss’ demands. In actuality, she is fully aware of her objectives and her target.

She considers Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) to be her father, not just any mobster. Sonny initially believed he had lost his first wife, Lily Corinthos (Lilly Melgar), in a car bomb explosion many years prior.

Sounds recognizable? He was the target of the attack, which was planned by Lily’s father Hernando Rivera (Ismael “East” Carlo), who disapproved of their union.

Allegedly unaware his daughter was newly pregnant with the mob kingpin’s child, he staged the whole thing to make it look as though Lily died — but some fans have long suspected that Hernando actually kidnapped his daughter to keep her away from Sonny. Does that mean her child survived?

Lily Corinthos Didn’t Die

Lily is reported to be well and alive. Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), hold onto your Prada bag. If Nina believes that Carly Spencer Spencer (Laura Wright) and Ava Jerome (Maura West) are enough of a challenge, she’s in for a surprise when Sonny tells her that the first woman to actually win his heart and receive his name is still using it publicly.

Since Lily hasn’t been seen in 27 years, it’s possible that Hernando not only abducted her but also brainwashed her against Sonny.

The child she gave birth to all those years ago is therefore unlikely to have grown up hearing anything except terrifying tales about their father. Was that individual Betty?

Hint Sonny Corinthos’s Lovechild Has Come Home To Roost

Fans are giddy with delight over the suspicion that Betty might actually be Sonny’s daughter with Lily. All of these years, many theories have come and gone that enemies who’ve come to Port Charles might have secretly been his son, but few have entertained the idea that Lily gave birth to a little girl.

And why can’t she be every bit as sinister? If the boss ordering Betty around happened to come into information on Sonny and Betty’s connection and decided to exploit her anger toward her absent father, who’s stopping him?

Moreover, it’s quite possible that the boss man ordering Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Grey) and Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) around all of this time has been Hernando himself.

What is Betty really here for? Does she actually want to see her father in ruins?

She Had Help

It’s possible that Betty could have had some help figuring out how to target her dear old dad. Juan Santiago (Michael Saucedo) was born to Lily prior to her ever meeting Sonny — the child of another man that her father forced her to give up for adoption.

Later, Sonny was the one who found Juan in order to reconcile him with his biological mother. Even though it has been almost ten years since Juan was last in Port Chuck, that doesn’t mean he has continued to show the crime boss any respect.

Juan battled addiction, and it’s probable that he has lost control since we last saw him, causing him to team up with Betty to plan a plot to avenge the father she was raised to despise.
