Billy Miller Struggled With ‘Manic Depression’

Billy Miller originally gained notoriety in 2007 for his performance on All My Children. Billy Miller then played Billy Abbott in The Young And The Restless. Additionally, the actor’s portrayal of Billy Abbott earned him three Daytime Emmy Awards. But Miller suffered in the background, according to his manager, who spoke with People.

And the actor, who appeared on General Hospital as well, passed away at the age of 43 after “struggling with manic depression,” according to his management. From 2008 to 2014, Billy played a leading role in The Young and the Restless. In addition, he won Daytime Emmys in 2010 and 2013 for outstanding supporting acting in a drama series and in 2014 for outstanding lead acting in a drama series.

But Miller subsequently headed to General Hospital as Jake Doe. The actor then replaced Steve Burton in the role of Jason Morgan from 2016 to 2017. And when Burton returned to the show, Billy took on the role of his twin, Drew Cain, prior to leaving General Hospital in 2019.

Miller also worked on Suits and the AppleTV+ series Truth Be Told in addition to his soap opera career. And a lot of Billy’s former coworkers used social media to express their sorrow and honor him.

For instance, Amy Driscoll’s character Risa Dorken from General Hospital said she was “heartbroken.” “My heart goes out to him, and everyone who loves him–he is loved by so many,” she continued. And Jason Thompson, who starred in General Hospital with Miller and later took over the actor’s former role of Billy Abbott in The Young and the Restless, felt “saddened to hear” about the death of his “friend.” Thompson shared that Miller “was funny, had a great laugh and very talented.” And he added, “Love and light to his family and friends.”

But General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini also wrote about the tragic loss on social media. And he shared that he felt “devastated to hear news of the incredibly talented Billy Miller’s passing.
